The theme of the project
The theme of this project was to create an animation using animal characters.
How I have Developed/Changed my work throughout the project
At first my characters were different as they were based on different animals.
My initial idea was to create a lion and a squirrel character, I was then going to develop this idea using claymation.
I did not go along with this idea as it would of taking me longer and I might have not got the project finished on time.
My animation is now going to be a stop frame animation and it is going to be based on a young bird that is learning to fly for the first time with the encouragement of his parent.
How much reference material have I looked at that I thought was relevant
I have looked at many different types of reference material that I thought was relevant such as books, this helped me to get some characters and develop these characters by drawing them and annotating details about these characters such as their name features etc.
This then got me the idea of the location and then further develop this into a storyboard with sketches of my character in different scenes.
I also looked at pictures on the internet which helped me develop my character even further and get more detailed sketches of the location, also helped me add things to the scenes in the animation.
Animators, Cultures or Pioneers I looked at
I looked at many different animators and people that do the artwork for famous animations such as Walt Disney, Ray Harryhausen and Nick Park.
None of these creator really inspired me to put some of their art styles into my work.
I did also have a look at what types of animations they are and also whether it was a 2d or 3d animation.
How my skills have developed through this project
My skills in drawing have developed throughout this project as I have learned different drawing styles that have made me want to draw.
I have learnt that I like using the water colours to use that effect which worked really well.
There are not really any aspects of this project that I would like to develop/explore further.
Have I used any principles of animation such as perspective and timing?
I used perspective in all my scenes all using different types of views such as worms eye view and bird eye view.
timing was also important when creating my animation as I needed to time the sound effects so they went along with the clips that were showing up on the screen.
Did I use any materials in my animation?
I did not use any materials in the making of my animation, although I was going to do my animation as a clay mation design but it would of taking to much time so I did not go along with this type of animation.
What meanings and messages?
I wanted to give the message of never give up and I think that I was successful in pursuing that message to my target audience.
Am I pleased with my animation?
Overall I am pleased with my animation, there are a few parts that could be improved but other than that I thought that my animation went well.
