The benefits of having a camera are that it is easier to film the documentary with this piece of equipment to hand because it just makes the whole process of the documentary making a whole lot easier.
You just could not simply make a documentary without a camera, this equipment is is absolutely vital when filming a documentary.
Cons
The disadvantages of having a camera as a piece of equipment in the process of filming the documentary. The problems are not having enough battery life in your camera so the camera you are using just dies on you in the middle of the filming. Also the other problem is not having enough battery left.
You can also get sd cards which are not that big and have not that much memory left on them and may possibly run out during the making of your documentary.

The benefits of having a tripod is that it helps you stabilise the camera and get a more stable video and it benefits the overall video as it makes it better quality when viewing the video and the tripod plays a big role in the stabilisation of the video.

The disadvantages of having a tripod are that it doesn't always work the way it should do and also the levers and the knobs on the tripod can sometimes get stuck making it take longer than you expected to set the tripod up.
The other disadvantage is that its not that easy to take from one place to another because you have to take it down and then place the tripod in another location.
SD Card

The benefits of having a sd card when filming is that this is where the memory goes and is a must have piece of equipment when filming a documentary, without this equipment you wouldnt be able to film the documentary.

The disadvantages of having this piece of equipment is that it is not always reliable depending on what memory size the sd card is, the more memory that the sd card has the easier it will be in filming the documentary.
